Whispergleam Mycelia

It listens. Or maybe... it remembers. — Alithra Duskwatch, Drow Mycologist

Appearance

Pale blue, hair-thin strands that form intricate fractal webs along walls and ceilings, often found clinging to forgotten ruins or ancient cavern walls.

Emits a constant soft light equivalent to candlelight, pulsing faintly like a slow heartbeat.

      1. Effects

When disturbed, Whispergleam releases spores imbued with a faint psychic resonance. Creatures within 10 ft. must succeed at a **DC 12 Will save** or suffer **mild confusion** for **1 round**, as strange whispers and flashes of forgotten memories cloud their thoughts.

Drow illusionists and dream-walkers harvest Whispergleam spores to power **illusion magic**, **sleep enchantments**, or as components in **dreamwalking rituals**. The spores are also believed to attune particularly well to spellcasting foci attuned to divination or enchantment.

      1. Ecology & Lore

Said to grow only in places touched by ancient consciousness or residual magic, Whispergleam is often found in ruins of old civilizations or near planar rifts. Some believe it is not a fungus at all, but a sentient colony collecting memory echoes.

      1. Harvesting

Harvesting spores requires a **DC 15 Knowledge (nature) or Profession (herbalist)** check. Mishandling may trigger a psychic pulse affecting the harvester and nearby allies.
